The Client AKA The Hero 01:55

From a coaching perspective, the Client is the Hero, as we (a personal trainer, manager, salesperson) are the Hero's Guide. The best Guides are

  • Authoritative: having the knowledge, skill set, confidence and communication skills to positively affect the hero
  • Empathetic: being able to truly feel what the hero is experiencing with no judgement and minimal personal bias.

Now imagine flipping the script where personal trainers/managers/salespersons were the Hero in this scenario.  We would create an experience of forcing our ideals onto our potential client while creating little relevancy to a client's values, resulting in minimal trust and rapport and most likely never leading to a lasting relationship.

By positioning ourselves in a place of servitude, we become the trusted resource for our client's fitness endeavours.
