Secondary amenorrhea is defined as the cessation of regular menses for three months or the cessation of irregular menses for six months and is caused by disruption of the HPO axis. This may be caused by a variety of different types of stress (physical, mental, emotional), Medical conditions, menopause, pregnancy, and breastfeeding. Symptoms include muscle aches, joint pain, decreased bone, and cardiovascular health, hot flashes, hair loss, and infertility.
