Transition for a Transgender individual is a very private and personal experience that can be done socially, legally, and/or medically. Numerous transition factors may influence a training experience and health status including:

  • The age of transition
  • Pre or Post Puberty
  • Genetics
  • Exogenous hormone receptors
  • Type of exogenous hormone administration
  • Lifestyle factors such as physical activity level, nutrition, smoking/alcohol/drug use, emotional well-being, and social support.

It’s important to recognize for a transgender individual,  there are many obstacles to overcome such as lack of private changing facilities, greater gender dysphoria or extreme segregation within the culture of a facility or its surrounding environment.
