Mindfulness 02:30
Mindfulness refers to the act of focusing entirely on the task at hand. Considering how often we are preoccupied about the past or present, this can lead to a sustained sympathetic response which therefore impairs recovery. Thus, mindfulness has been shown quite effective as a method for decreasing stress and increasing parasympathetic tone, making it a useful tool for recovery.
Note: Mindfulness is considered “Active” if we are using it while being physically active such as when we go for a hike in nature. Otherwise, it can be considered Passive if you are not physically engaged when practicing mindfulness.
In the next sublesson, we’ll showcase an Active version: Mindful Stretching.
